Online Betting Sites UK Compared
The UKGC-licensed sites on our betting list side by side: which ones actually have a sportsbook, their sports welcome offers, Best Odds Guaranteed and maximum payouts, and the margins on one Premier League match. Plus how free bets work and the UK rules. Reviewed by Arthur Smith, Editor-in-Chief.
Betting sites compared
The sites are shown in our listing order. Each card shows the offer and key terms from our own listing, and on most cards that's a casino offer, not a sports one. Open "What we checked" on any card to see whether the site takes sports bets and what we read on its own site on 12 October 2026, or why we couldn't. When we checked, the offers shown for Midnite Casino, Sun Vegas, Unibet, MrQ, Kwiff and 32Red didn't match what those operators' own sites showed, so check the terms on the operator's own site before you sign up.

Which UK betting sites are worth it?
It depends what you bet on, and not every site here takes sports bets. Six of the 15 do on their own site: Midnite Casino, Quinn Casino, Unibet, Grosvenor Casinos, Kwiff and 32Red. Five are casino sites with no sportsbook: Sun Vegas, Hippodrome, Lottomart, Mecca Games and MrQ. We couldn't check the other four: Casumo and Pub Casino, whose UK sites wouldn't load for us, and Los Vegas and VoodooDreams, whose UK addresses sent us to an international site. On the one match we priced, Unibet and 32Red had the lowest margin, 5.6%, against 12.1% at Midnite Casino. For a sports welcome offer, Midnite Casino, Unibet, Grosvenor Casinos and Kwiff had one on their own site when we checked, but the offers on most of the cards below are casino offers. The list is the one our site uses for betting, so it includes casino sites too, and each card's "What we checked" row says which kind of site it is.
All 15 sites here held an active UKGC licence when we checked (6, 11 and 12 October 2026), and each card has the details.

How we checked these sites
Licences first. We looked up every site here on the Gambling Commission's public register: every one had an active licence (6, 11 and 12 October 2026), and we noted what each licence covers. Each card's licence number links to its entry.
Then the betting. On 12 October 2026 we read each operator's own site and help centre, logged out: whether it has a sportsbook, its sports welcome offer and the terms, the features it advertises, its Best Odds Guaranteed conditions and the maximum payouts in its betting rules. We also took the full-time result prices for one Premier League match from every sportsbook whose site would load, all within four minutes. The UK sites of four brands wouldn't load from where we ran our checks, or sent us to an international version, so we couldn't see whether they take sports bets. Two of the sportsbooks blocked us as well, so their cards rely on their help centres, betting rules and promotions pages, and we couldn't price the match there. Each card says which.
We didn't open accounts, deposit or bet anywhere for this page, and we didn't time withdrawals. Withdrawal times are the operators' own figures, read on 6, 11 and 12 October 2026. The margins are our own sums from the prices we read.
What we found at each site
Notes from each operator's own site, help centre and betting rules, read on 12 October 2026. We didn't open accounts or bet anywhere for these checks.
Midnite Casino
A full sportsbook, with football, racing, tennis, darts and esports among its markets, plus in-play betting. Its sports welcome offer gives £30 in free bets for a £10 bet.
Pro: A published payout table in its help centre, with £250,000 on top football leagues, and extras such as 2UP early payout and Sub Hero.
Con: Its prices on the match we checked had a 12.1% margin, the widest of the four we read, and its Best Odds Guaranteed is by invitation only. Its help centre also gives two different limits for UK racing.

Quinn Casino
The one card on this page with a sports offer: half your first day's losses back as a free bet, up to £50. Its site, QuinnBet, wouldn't load from where we ran our checks, so these notes come from its help centre.
Pro: Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Irish racing from 10am, daily extra places, and racing and greyhound streams once you're logged in.
Con: We couldn't read its current offer terms or its betting rules, so check the offer's terms on its own site before you sign up.
Sources: Best Odds Guaranteed · free bet rules
Hippodrome
A casino site. Its Hippodrome Sports page sends you to Betway's sportsbook, and Betway Limited also holds Hippodrome's own licence.
Pro: Its casino welcome offer matched our card when we checked, and its terms say winnings from the 100 free spins have no wagering.
Con: There's no sports betting on the Hippodrome site itself.
Sources: sports page · terms
Lottomart
No sportsbook. The betting it does offer is lotto betting: fixed-odds bets on the results of official lottery draws, which Lottomart or its insurers pay out on, not the lottery itself.
Pro: Its homepage offers new customers 10 free Quick Lotto Plus line bets after £10 of lotto purchases, though the offer's terms limit it to invited customers.
Con: The free spins offer on our card is also only for invited customers.
Sources: lotto betting · spins offer terms
Unibet
A £500,000 payout limit on the top football leagues, the highest we could confirm, and its prices on the match we checked shared the lowest margin, 5.6%.
Pro: Best Odds Guaranteed for selected customers on selected UK and Irish races from 8am, acca insurance, and free streams on Unibet TV once you have money in your account or have bet in the last 24 hours (for a horse race you also need a bet of at least the amount shown on the stream).
Con: Its sports offer needs a £20 acca, and the free bets come as bet builders and an acca rather than one free bet. The casino offer on its site was different from our card, too.
Sources: sports offer · Best Odds Guaranteed
Grosvenor Casinos
Grosvenor's sportsbook, Grosvenor Sport, sits on the same site as its casino. Its welcome offer doubles the odds on your first £10 bet, but only if you sign up through a particular landing page.
Pro: Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Irish racing from 9am, and free Watch & Bet racing streams with a positive balance or a bet in the last 24 hours.
Con: Taking the sports offer rules out the casino one, and PayPal and Paysafe deposits don't count for it.
Sources: Double Your Odds terms · Best Odds Guaranteed
Kwiff
Its Supercharge feature can add odds boosts to cash bets after you place them, picked by its algorithms. Bet £10 at 1.50 or bigger and you get a £10 free bet, going by the offer its promotions site opens on.
Pro: Clear limits in its betting rules (£250,000 on top football and on GB and Irish racing), and most withdrawals take under 30 minutes, its help centre says.
Con: We found no Best Odds Guaranteed, and its sportsbook lobby wouldn't load from where we ran our checks. Its casino offer works differently from the one on our card.
Sources: sports offer · betting rules
32Red
Runs a sportsbook alongside its casino, with in-play betting, and its prices on the match we checked were identical to Unibet's, at a 5.6% margin.
Pro: Full and partial cash out, 2-Up, acca insurance and free live streaming, with bets from 10p.
Con: No sports welcome offer when we checked, and no Best Odds Guaranteed that we could find.
Sources: sportsbook · racing rules
Which of these sites take sports bets?
Not all of them, and it's worth knowing which before you sign up. The list on this page is the one our site uses for betting, and it includes casino brands. Most of the welcome offers on the cards are casino offers, too: free spins or a bonus for slots.
Going by each operator's own site on 12 October 2026:
- Sportsbook on its own site: Midnite Casino, Quinn Casino, Unibet, Grosvenor Casinos, Kwiff and 32Red
- No sportsbook: Sun Vegas, Hippodrome (its Hippodrome Sports page sends you to Betway), Lottomart (it takes lotto bets on lottery draws instead), Mecca Games and MrQ
- Couldn't check: Casumo and Pub Casino, whose UK sites wouldn't load for us, and Los Vegas and VoodooDreams, whose UK addresses sent us to an international site
A licence that covers betting doesn't tell you a brand takes sports bets. The Gambling Commission licenses companies, not websites, and one licence can sit behind several brands, so a casino site can be covered for betting because a sister brand runs the sportsbook. The register shows the company and its activities. The site's own menu is what tells you whether there's anything to bet on.
If it's casino games you're after, our casino sites comparison looks at those sites on their own terms.
Which bookmaker has the best odds? Margins on one match
None of them is best on everything. What you can compare is the margin built into the prices. Work out the chance each price implies (1 divided by the decimal odds) and add those chances up across a market. With no margin they'd come to exactly 100%. The amount over 100% is called the overround, and it's the usual way to compare bookmakers: odds of 2.10, 3.40 and 3.60 on a football match, for instance, add up to 104.8%, an overround of 4.8%. When we give a margin on this page, that's the figure we mean.
To see how much it varies here, we took the full-time result prices for one Premier League match from every sportsbook on this page whose site would load, all within four minutes of each other.
| Bookmaker | Leeds | Draw | Man United | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unibet | 29/20 (2.45) | 13/5 (3.60) | 17/10 (2.70) | 5.6% |
| 32Red* | 2.45 | 3.60 | 2.70 | 5.6% |
| Grosvenor Casinos | 29/20 (2.45) | 13/5 (3.60) | 13/8 (2.625) | 6.7% |
| Midnite Casino | 2.30 | 3.60 | 2.45 | 12.1% |
The lowest margin was 5.6%, at Unibet and 32Red, and the highest 12.1%, at Midnite Casino. On a £10 bet on Manchester United, that's the difference between £27.00 back at Unibet and 32Red and £24.50 at Midnite Casino, if they win.
Unibet and 32Red showed exactly the same prices. That's no coincidence: the register lists both under one licence holder, Platinum Gaming Limited (account 45322), and their match pages load the same odds platform.
Grosvenor Casinos showed its prices as fractions, and the table uses those. The odds feed behind its page carries slightly bigger decimal prices (2.48 / 3.65 / 2.63), which would put its margin at 5.7%. We didn't bet, so we couldn't check which of the two a bet is settled at.
That's one match at one moment. Prices move all day, and a bookmaker that's tight on the result can be the generous one on a goalscorer or in a horse race, so check the price on the actual bet before you place it.
How do free bets work? Betting welcome offers explained
Most of the sports welcome offers we read work the same way. You place a first bet with your own money, usually at evens (2.0) or bigger, and once it settles the bookmaker gives you free bets. The first bet doesn't normally have to win.
The part people miss is the stake. A free bet's stake isn't paid back with the winnings, so you only get the profit: a £10 free bet that wins at 3.0 pays £20, not £30. Free bets also come with their own minimum odds and an expiry date, and in the offers we read they lasted 7 days.
The sports welcome offers on the operators' own sites on 12 October 2026:
- Midnite Casino: Bet £10 at evens (2.0) or bigger within 14 days of signing up (code BETGET30) and get £30 in free bets: a £10 single, three £5 bet builders and a £5 acca, valid for 7 days.
- Quinn Casino: its card on this page shows a sports offer, 50% back of your first day's losses as a free bet, up to £50. Its own offer page wouldn't load for us, but its help centre says free bets last 7 days and the stake isn't returned.
- Unibet: Bet £20 on an acca at evens (2.0) or bigger and get £40 in free bets: three £10 bet builders and a £10 acca, valid for 7 days. Racing bets don't qualify, and the deposit has to be by debit card or instant bank transfer.
- Grosvenor Casinos: Double Your Odds: deposit £10 and bet £10 at evens (2.0) or bigger on any sport, and the profit is doubled, paid in cash. It's only for new customers who sign up through a particular landing page, PayPal and Paysafe deposits don't count, and taking it rules out the casino welcome offer.
- Kwiff: Bet £10 at 1.50 or bigger within 5 days of your first deposit and get a £10 free bet, valid for 7 days. That's the offer its promotions site opens on; another UK page offers four £10 free bets for a £10 bet at 2.0.
- 32Red: None when we checked. Its only welcome offer was for slots.
Two things are worth checking in the terms. One is the payment method: one offer here only counts a deposit by debit card or instant bank transfer, and another leaves out PayPal and Paysafe. The other is what the free bets can go on. Two of these come split into bet builders and accas, each with its own rules, rather than one free bet you can put on anything.
Not every offer is a free bet, either. The odds boost offer here pays its extra winnings as cash, while the money-back offer refunds part of what you lose as a free bet.
Why sports and casino offers are now separate
Since 19 January 2026, a GB-licensed site can't build one promotion out of two kinds of gambling. The Gambling Commission's own examples make it clear: "Bet £5 and get £10 free bet" is fine, and so is "Spend £5 on casino products and get 20 free spins". "Bet £5 to get 20 free spins" isn't allowed, and nor is a reward that mixes a free bet with free spins.
That's why a site with both a sportsbook and a casino now has to keep its sports and casino welcome offers apart, and why the casino offers on these cards can't be unlocked with a football bet. You may have to choose, too: at least one site here says that taking its sports offer rules out its casino offer. The one exception the Commission allows is a bonus you can choose to spend on whichever product you like.
The same date brought in a cap on wagering. No bonus can ask you to wager more than ten times the bonus amount, and the Commission's rules apply that to free bets as well as casino bonuses. Some casino offers here still work their 10x out on your deposit and the bonus together, though, so check the terms for the total you'd have to stake.
Cash out, bet builders, in-play and early payouts
Every sportsbook on this page offers cash out, which lets you settle a bet before the event is over, either to lock in part of a win or to cut your losses. The price is the bookmaker's, though, and it isn't always on offer. Cash out can be pulled while a market is suspended, after a big moment in a game for example, and some markets never get it. At least one site here doesn't offer it on horse racing at all.
A bet builder puts several selections from the same match into one bet at one price: the result, the number of goals and a goalscorer, say. Not every combination is allowed, and the bet slip will tell you when two selections can't go together. Some welcome offers pay their free bets as bet builders, and those come with their own rules, such as higher minimum odds or a minimum number of selections.
Midnite Casino, Unibet, Grosvenor Casinos, Kwiff and 32Red all take in-play bets, so you can bet while a match is going on. We couldn't see Quinn Casino's in-play pages. Live streams are free but not unconditional. Where the sites publish the terms, you need to be logged in with money in your account or a bet in the last 24 hours, and for a horse race you may need a bet on that race too.
Early payout offers, sold as 2-Up or 2UP, settle a pre-match bet on the full-time result as a winner once your team goes two goals ahead, whatever happens after that. Read the market before you use one. At two of the sites that run it, 2-Up is a separate market with its own prices: on the match we priced, they offered 2.40, 3.50 and 2.65 there, against 2.45, 3.60 and 2.70 on the normal result, a margin of 8.0% instead of 5.6%. Neither of those two lets you cash out a 2-Up bet. At another, 2UP is switched on by default for the normal full-time result, and its help centre says the odds may be slightly lower with it.
Betting on horse racing: Best Odds Guaranteed, each-way and Rule 4
The racing offer you'll see most is Best Odds Guaranteed, and four of the six sportsbooks here run it in some form. It pays you the starting price when that beats the price you took: 6/1 taken, 8/1 at the off, and you're paid at 8/1. If the horse shortens to 4/1, your 6/1 stands.
Who offered it on 12 October 2026, going by their own promotion pages and rules:
- Midnite Casino: Invitation only, for UK and Irish racing bets placed from 9am on race day, up to £50,000 extra a day
- Quinn Casino: UK and Irish racing, bets from 10am, up to £150 extra per race
- Unibet: For selected customers: selected UK and Irish races, bets from 8am, up to £25,000 extra a day
- Grosvenor Casinos: For eligible customers: UK and Irish racing, bets from 9am on race day, up to £25,000 extra
We found no Best Odds Guaranteed offer at Kwiff and 32Red.
Read the small print, though. At the sites here it covers UK and Irish racing only, for bets placed after a set time on race day, and there's a cap on the extra you can be paid. Some limit it to selected or eligible customers. Ante-post bets are left out at most of these sites, and a few also exclude certain bet types, or races that already have a promotion running.
Each-way trips people up more. You're placing two bets, so £5 each-way is £10 out of your pocket: £5 to win and £5 to place. Take a 10/1 horse in a nine-runner race that comes third. The win bet's gone, but the place bet pays at a fifth of 10/1, which is 2/1, and you collect £15. That fifth for the first three is the Tattersalls Committee's standard for races of 8 or more. Handicaps pay a quarter of the odds instead, for the first three with 12 to 15 runners and the first four with 16 or more. A bookmaker can show different terms, and some pay extra places on selected races.
Rule 4 is the deduction you'll see when a horse is withdrawn after you've taken a price on the day of the race; ante-post bets are settled differently. The bookmaker cuts your winnings on the rest by a scale based on the withdrawn horse's odds: 90p in the pound if it was 1/9 or shorter, 25p if it was 12/5 to 3/1, and nothing if it was bigger than 14/1. Bets at the starting price aren't normally affected. A dead heat for first between two horses is settled by halving your stake: one half loses, and the other is paid at full odds. With three or more, the stake is split in proportion.
Maximum payouts and stake limits
Bookmakers do cap what they'll pay out. A maximum payout is a limit on your winnings, not on how much you can stake. Most of the sites here set it by sport and competition in their betting rules, one sets a single limit for every bet, and several also cap what one customer can win in a day.
The limits in their own betting rules, read on 12 October 2026:
- Midnite Casino: £250,000 on top football leagues and £250,000 a day in total. For UK racing, its payout table says £250,000 but its racing rules still say £100,000
- Unibet: £500,000 on top football leagues, £100,000 a day on UK and Irish racing, and £500,000 in total in 24 hours
- Grosvenor Casinos: €250,000 net on any bet or combination of bets (its rules give the figure in euros)
- Kwiff: £250,000 on top football leagues and on GB and Irish racing, and £250,000 a day in total
- 32Red: £100,000 a day on UK and Irish racing
Those figures are for the biggest competitions. Lower leagues, football specials and greyhounds come with smaller caps, and mixing legs can bring the limit down: at one site here, the cap on a GB or Irish racing bet drops to £50,000 if any selection isn't in a fully covered race. It matters most for big accumulators and long-odds bets, where a modest stake can go past the limit, so check the rules for that sport first. Anything above the cap won't be paid.
There's no legal limit on how much you can stake on a sports bet. The £5 limit on an online slot spin (£2 if you're 18 to 24) is for slots only. Minimum stakes are up to each bookmaker, and four of the sportsbooks here go as low as 10p.
Can a bookmaker limit or close your account?
Yes. The Gambling Commission says operators are entitled to act in their commercial interests and manage their liabilities, and that a gambling business is free to decide who it takes bets from and on what terms. Being a winning punter isn't a protected characteristic.
It isn't rare, either. In data the Commission published in July 2025, covering almost 15 million accounts that were active in 2024, 4.31% of active accounts had been restricted in some way. 2.68% had been stake factored, where the site cuts how much you can bet, and 2.23% had been closed for commercial reasons, with many accounts hit by both.
There's one protection worth knowing about. If you'd started qualifying for a free bet before the site told you about a restriction, it still has to let you get that free bet. A refused bet, on the other hand, isn't something a dispute service will look at, so that one stays between you and the bookmaker.
Deposits, withdrawals and the checks you may be asked for
You can't bet with a credit card in Great Britain. The ban came in on 14 April 2020, and it covers credit cards used through an e-wallet too. Debit cards, bank transfers and e-wallets are the usual options, but check the welcome offer first, because a couple here only count deposits made in certain ways. Our guides to PayPal, Trustly, Apple Pay and Google Pay explain how each one works.
A couple of newer rules add steps when you join. Since 31 October 2025, sites have had to prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, with setting one as the default. Since 30 September 2026, they've also had to offer a true gross deposit limit.
Once your deposits minus withdrawals pass £150 in a rolling 30 days, a site has to run a check of public records, looking for things like a bankruptcy order or a county court judgment. Fuller financial risk assessments are on the way: in July 2026 the Commission decided to introduce them in stages, starting at the biggest operators with net deposits over £5,000 in 24 hours (£2,500 for under-25s). We couldn't find a start date for them when we checked.
For withdrawals, these are the operators' own figures for the sportsbooks on this page, read on 6, 11 and 12 October 2026:
- Midnite Casino: Visa/Mastercard debit up to 5 business days; Apple Pay, Google Pay and Pay By Bank up to 72 hours.
- Quinn Casino: Usually processed within 24 hours of the request once ID checks are approved, then a few hours to 2-3 working days to arrive.
- Unibet: Debit card: a few minutes to 1 banking day on average.
- Grosvenor Casinos: Most are processed instantly and paid within 15 minutes; Visa and Mastercard cards without Fast Withdrawals take 1-3 working days.
- Kwiff: Most withdrawals are completed in under 30 minutes; extra security checks are aimed to finish within 24 hours.
- 32Red: Debit card: stays pending at least 24 hours before it is processed.
Are UK betting sites safe? Licences, GAMSTOP and how to complain
The licensed ones are, and the licence is the first thing to check. A site taking bets from people in Great Britain needs one, and the public register shows what each licence covers, from casino and bingo to betting on real events. Every site here has its licence number on its card, linked to its entry. Some of them share a licence holder:
- SuprPlay Limited (account 48695): Los Vegas and VoodooDreams
- Platinum Gaming Limited (account 45322): Unibet and 32Red
- Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited (account 57924): Mecca Games and Grosvenor Casinos
Every GB-licensed online operator has had to take part in GAMSTOP since 31 March 2020, so one registration blocks you from all of them for anything from six months to five years. A site that advertises itself as "not on GamStop" isn't a GB-licensed one.
Your money isn't protected the way it is in a bank account. The Commission says there's no legal duty on gambling operators to protect customer funds if they go bust, though many do so voluntarily, so it's worth reading what a site's terms say before you leave a large balance there.
If something goes wrong, complain to the site first. It has 8 weeks to sort it out, and after that you can take the complaint to the independent dispute service it uses, which costs you nothing. The Commission doesn't rule on individual complaints itself.
You have to be 18 or over, and a licensed site must check your age and identity before you can bet, even with a free bet. Whatever you win is tax-free.
Online betting FAQ
Which UK betting sites are worth a look?
It depends what you bet on: on price, Unibet and 32Red had the lowest margin on the match we checked; Unibet had the highest football payout limit we could confirm, £500,000; and for horse racing, Quinn Casino and Grosvenor Casinos offer Best Odds Guaranteed, and Unibet offers it to selected customers. Six of the 15 sites on this page take sports bets on their own site, five don't, and we couldn't check the other four. All 15 held an active UKGC licence when we checked.
Which betting site has the best welcome offer?
It depends how you bet. On their main offer pages, the most generous we read gave £30 in free bets for a £10 bet, while the biggest total, £40, needed a £20 acca, and one site had a second page offering £40 for a £10 bet. Look at what the free bets can go on as well as what they're worth: in two of the offers, most or all of the free bets have to be used on bet builders or accas. The offers and their terms are listed in the free bets section above.
Do casino sites take sports bets?
Some do and some don't. Of the 15 sites on this page, six have a sportsbook of their own: Midnite Casino, Quinn Casino, Unibet, Grosvenor Casinos, Kwiff and 32Red. Sun Vegas, Hippodrome, Lottomart, Mecca Games and MrQ don't take sports bets. Lottomart does take lotto bets on lottery draws. We couldn't check Casumo and Pub Casino, whose UK sites wouldn't load for us, and Los Vegas and VoodooDreams, whose UK addresses sent us to an international site. Each card's "What we checked" row says which kind of site it is.
Are online betting sites in the UK safe and legal?
Yes, if the site is licensed by the Gambling Commission and you're 18 or over. A licensed site has to check your age and identity before you bet, take part in GAMSTOP and give you a way to complain. Every site on this page had an active UKGC licence when we checked, and its licence number links to the Commission's register.
How do free bets work?
You place a first bet with your own money, usually at odds of evens (2.0) or bigger, and the bookmaker adds free bets once it settles. When a free bet wins you get the profit but not the stake, so a £10 free bet at 3.0 pays £20. Free bets have their own minimum odds and expiry date, and in the offers we read they lasted 7 days.
Can you withdraw winnings from a free bet?
You can't withdraw the free bet itself, but what it wins is yours once any terms attached to it are met. The stake isn't paid back, so a £10 free bet that wins at 3.0 returns £20. One sportsbook here says its free bet winnings carry no wagering at all, and no GB offer can ask for more than 10 times the bonus. You can't always cash out a free bet, though: at least one site here doesn't allow it.
Which bookmaker gives the best odds?
It changes from market to market. On the one match we priced on 12 October 2026, Unibet and 32Red had the lowest margin, 5.6%, and Midnite Casino the highest, 12.1%. A site with a wide margin on one market can still be the best price on another, so compare the odds on the bet you actually want.
Do bookies have a maximum payout?
Yes. It's a limit on what they'll pay out on winning bets, not on your stake, and it's usually set by sport and competition in the bookmaker's betting rules, often with a daily cap per customer as well. The highest football limit we could confirm was £500,000 on the top leagues, at Unibet.
Can a bookmaker refuse to pay out?
Not as it pleases. Its betting rules have to say when it will void a bet and what happens if it makes a mistake. Fair fixes are allowed, like correcting an obvious error in the odds or taking a Rule 4 deduction. A term that simply lets the site keep your winnings whenever it decides isn't, going by the Gambling Commission's guidance. Winnings above the maximum payout aren't paid. If you disagree with a decision, complain to the site, and after 8 weeks you can take it to the free dispute service it uses.
Can betting sites ban you for winning?
They can limit your stakes or close your account for commercial reasons, and the Gambling Commission says that's their right. In data it published in July 2025, 4.31% of active accounts had been restricted in some way. If you'd started qualifying for a free bet before being told about a restriction, though, you're still entitled to it.
Can you get free spins for placing a sports bet?
Not any more. Since 19 January 2026, GB-licensed sites can't tie a reward for one kind of gambling to another, so "bet £5 to get 20 free spins" is out. A sports bet can earn free bets, and casino play can earn free spins, but they're now separate offers.
Which betting sites are not on GamStop?
None that are licensed in Great Britain. Every GB-licensed online operator has had to take part in GAMSTOP since 31 March 2020, so a site that says it's "not on GamStop" isn't licensed by the Gambling Commission.
Do UK betting sites accept credit cards?
No. Gambling with a credit card has been banned in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, including through an e-wallet that's topped up from a credit card. Debit cards, bank transfers and e-wallets are fine, though some welcome offers only count certain payment methods.
Why do betting sites check your ID?
Because they have to. A licensed site must verify your name, address and date of birth before you can bet. And if you deposit more than £150 over what you've withdrawn in a rolling 30 days, it has to check public records too, for a bankruptcy order or a county court judgment, say.
Do you pay tax on betting winnings in the UK?
No. However much you win, it's yours tax-free, as the Gambling Commission confirms. Bookmakers pay betting duty on their profits instead, and from 1 April 2027 the rate on most online bets goes up to 25%, with bets on UK horse racing among the exceptions.
Which betting sites are owned by the same company?
A few of the sites on this page share one. Los Vegas and VoodooDreams both come under SuprPlay Limited on the Gambling Commission's register, Unibet and 32Red under Platinum Gaming Limited, and Mecca Games and Grosvenor Casinos under Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited. To see who runs any other site, search its name on the register.
What is Best Odds Guaranteed?
A horse racing offer: if you take a price and the starting price is bigger, you're paid at the starting price. It usually applies to UK and Irish races from a set time on race day, with a cap on the extra paid, so check each site's conditions.
